The Certified Nurse Midwife/Family Nurse Practitioner will be based in our Durham, North Carolina practice and will work within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. This role will be an integral part of our department’s success.

Faculty rank and salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Department prefers full-time positions, but is willing to negotiate to no less than .75 FTE (full time equivalent). Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Clinical: Primary clinical responsibilities will include general family medicine in the outpatient setting, such as acute care, preventive care, and care of chronic diseases. It will also include family-centered prenatal care, postpartum care, women’s health, and care of newborns, children, and adolescents. There may be opportunities for labor & delivery care as well.
- Teaching & Education: This will be a rich teaching environment which will include teaching and mentoring medical students, interns, residents, fellows, and other learners.
- Research: All faculty are encouraged to develop a scholarly interest. Clinical faculty are expected to produce a scholarly product, which may include national presentations and should include manuscript submission, at a rate of one every one or two years.
- Institutional Citizenship: All faculty are expected to work as part of the larger team to improve access, reduce cost, improve quality, and promote efficiency and better health outcomes. You may be asked to engage in community outreach and attend professional events to assist with program development and building professional relationships. In addition, attention to timely and complete documentation and patient satisfaction are needed by each faculty member in our department.
Master’s degree or higher in nursing or closely related field with primary focus on nursing.
Both Nurse Midwife certification and Family Nurse Practitioner certification are required.
The successful candidate must have previous experience working in an academic environment with experience and a passion for patient care, teaching, and clinical scholarship.
Minimum of three years Nurse Midwife and Family Nurse Practitioner experience required.
